Blue Marlin

Native to the tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, blue marlins are among the most recognizable of all fish. They are cobalt-blue on top and silvery-white below, with a pronounced dorsal fin and a long, lethal, spear-shaped upper jaw.

Local Names: Malasugi, Marlin

Blue marlin prefer warm surface waters that are well mixed by surface winds and are uniform in temperature and salinity. They are considered the most tropical of all billfishes. They spend all of their time in the water column, frequently moving between the surface and a depth of 100 meters.
